BREVARD COUNTY, FL – Eastern Florida State College’s Kyle Meyer is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Meyer, a sophomore from Johns Creek, Ga., averaged 20.3 points, 11 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one block in three games during the voting period. He led the Titans to wins in all three games as they ran their winning streak to 13.

In his first game back from the holiday break, Meyer recorded a double-double – 18 points and 14 rebounds – in Eastern Florida State’s 93-55 win over NJCAA No. 16 Shelton State on Dec. 31.

He added 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 80-46 win over Wytheville Community College on Jan. 2 and closed the voting period with a 19-point, nine-rebound outing in an 80-51 victory against USC-Salkehatchie on Jan. 3.

For the week, Meyer shot 68.6 percent (24-of-35) from the floor, 62.5 percent (5-of-8) on three-pointers and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line.

“Kyle has been getting better and better as the year has gone on, and has been unbelievable since we got back from Christmas break,” said Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman.

“It is a great honor for him to be named FCSAA State player of the week.”

Meyer is the second Titan to receive the honor, with freshman guard Daishon Smith earning the award in December.

Eastern Florida is 17-1, ranked 15th nationally, second in Florida, and on a 13-game winning streak this season.
