Modica Awarded SSC Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Modica is lacrosse program’s first player of the week selection

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Allie Modica has been named the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday by the SSC Office.
She is the women’s lacrosse program’s first player of the week selection.
In the program’s first-ever game against Roberts Wesleyan, Modica secured nine groundballs, seven draw controls and caused two turnovers in the 19-11 home loss on Monday, Feb. 16.
She also scored three goals and dished out one assist against the Redhawks.
In the team’s second game against Ave Maria on Saturday, Feb. 21, Modica picked up three groundballs and recovered three draw controls against the Gyrenes.
She also recorded three goals and six assists in the game, and had a hand in the team’s first six goals of the game. Modica put the Panthers up 2-0 just 1:17 into the game with two goals of her own.
She then assisted the team’s next four goals, to help put Florida Tech up 6-0 over Ave Maria early in the first quarter.
Modica and the Panthers next play at home on Wednesday, March 4 against Assumption College. Game time is 7 p.m. at Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium.
