Waves are looking mostly unrideable this morning. Late-morning's lower tide could help make the small waves more rideable by then. Surfers seeking an early morning surf session may want to focus on Cocoa Beach's northernmost beaches for a longboardable wave. — Ocean temperatures now average 72 degrees. A vest or springsuit for early morning surfers may provide the best option.

SURF REPORT FOR MARCH 20-22

FRIDAY: Waves are looking fun this Friday morning. A light northwesterly breeze is providing clean surface conditions with wave heights in the thigh- to waist-high range.

SATURDAY: Saturday’s surf will decrease into the thigh-high range with light onshore winds providing semi-clean conditions.

SUNDAY: I believe Sunday’s surf will run in the knee- to thigh-high range with semi-bumpy conditions from a southeasterly wind.

Ocean temperatures now average 72 degrees. A vest or springsuit for early morning surfers may provide the best option.

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966. He was also the first to surf several of North Carolina’s remote islands in the mid ’60s and travels frequently to surf in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. He provided his first surf reporting and weekend forecasts in 1968 live on WKKO radio from the RonJon Surf Shop on Cocoa Beach Pier. He was the 1968 Florida Men’s Surfing Champion and is the current Florida Legend’s Surfing Champion. He has gathered over 300 amateur 1st place awards in both shortboard and longboard divisions. He is a 2014 Inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
