BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s and women’s tennis continued its recent trend of wins on Wednesday afternoon as both teams registered victories against Stevens Tech at Fee Avenue Park.

“The girls came out today ready to play and did a great job executing their strategies,” said head coach Bill Macom.

“The men played with a lot of confidence against a strong Division III program. After being down 1-2 going into singles, they did a great job keeping their composure.”

The Panther women had zero issue with the Ducks, rolling to their third 9-0 sweep in a row.

Kayla Hergott and Erin Egoroff took down Jessica Bourque and Alexis Connor 8-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot while the No. 2 match went to Natasa Vukovic and Katie Close, who bested Danielle Stewart and Katrina Guido 8-1.

In singles, Chloe Chanley won the No. 3 match against Julia Guignard 6-0, 6-1 and Mariana Cataneiras won over Guido 6-0, 6-1.

Additionally, Jessica Widmark garnered a 6-1, 6-0 decision versus Lily Bruenjas at No. 6.

The Ducks gave the Panther men’s squad a much bigger test. Stevens Tech jumped out to an early 3-1 lead before FIT bounced back with five consecutive match wins to take the contest.

Wade Ball got the Panthers back in the win column against Kyle Henry 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 before Ricardo Corona beat William Persson 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 5 match.

At No. 6, Jose Martinez was the winner over Tyler Tisdale 7-5, 6-2 and Aria Canadell clinched the match for FIT with a 7-5, 6-2 victory against Danny Polk.

With the wins the FIT women improved to 11-6 while their male counterparts are now 11-4 on the year.

The Panthers return to Sunshine State Conference action on Thursday with 1:30 p.m. ET matches at Eckerd.
