Florida Tech To Host Business Ethics Conference April 1

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Tackling leadership and ethical challenges in the global environment with a compelling roster of speakers and experts, Florida Institute of Technology’s 15th annual Business Ethics and Leadership Conference will take place Wednesday, April 1, in the Hartley Room at the Denius Student Center on the university’s Melbourne campus.
Sponsored by Harris Corporation and Community Credit Union and hosted by Florida Tech’s Nathan Bisk College of Business, the free, public event starts with registration and continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m., following the included lunch.
Seating is limited and registration is required by emailing Lyn Allison at lallison@fit.edu. Registration deadline is March 27.
After a welcome by Abram Walton, director of Florida Tech’s Center for Ethics and Leadership and associate professor of technology management and innovation, the conference’s first session will feature Greg Donovan.
Donovan, executive director of Melbourne International Airport, will discuss the status and challenges of the airport in a global environment.
The day’s second speaker, retired U.S. Army Col. Danny McKnight will discuss his “leadership standards” template for what makes leaders who effectively and efficiently provide purpose, motivation and direction to their charges. That runs from 9-9:45 a.m.
After a 15-minute break, the conference’s panel discussion will get underway. Focused on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the panel of business and legal experts features Joe D. Dunaway, John Gronda, Chukwugozie “Gozie” Onyema, Dave Alexander and Mike Marks. William Potter will moderate.
From 11-11:30 a.m., the winning team in Florida Tech’s recently concluded high school ethics competition, from Rockledge High School, will offer its case presentation on the fire in a Bangladesh garment factory.
And at 11:30 a.m., Mike Marks, co-founder of IRCG, will be awarded the Nathan Bisk College of Business Ethics and Leadership Award for Community Engagement.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Florida Tech’s Walton will then offer concluding remarks.
