First Responder Games Underway In Brevard, Local Competitors Faring Well

ABOVE VIDEO: Rusty Buchanan’s Space Coast Sports Promotions has pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the Brevard County economy through sports programming, and the company continues to look for ways to add to the economic impact that sports have on the area.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Thousands of participants are in town to compete in the 2015 First Responder Games, and our local competitors are faring well.
The First Responder Games are an Olympic-style competition for active and retired law enforcement personnel, as well as firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and members of the military.
Space Coast Sports Promotions is hosting the event, which runs from Sept. 16-27 at various venues in Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, Cocoa, Rockledge and Viera.
“This is a great event that includes 43 different activities,” said Ruby Daniel, Executive Director of Space Coast Sports Promotions.
Among the First Responder Games events are Running, Archery, Basketball, Bench Press, Billiards, Bowling, Cornhole, Crossfit, Cycling, Darts, Equestrian, Fishing, Football, Golf, Grappling, Hockey, Pistol, Poker, Pull Ups, Push / Pull, Racquetball, Shotgun, Skeet, Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track, Trap and Volleyball.
For 25 years Space Coast Sports Promotions, under the leadership of Rusty Buchanan, has attracted teams and events, which have spent millions of dollars in Brevard, and hosted hundreds of events, including one of the largest amateur athletic events in the history of amateur games, the 1994 Junior Olympic Games.
