Antonio Morrison Named SEC Defensive Player of Week

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA (GatorZone.com) – University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

The Gator senior was instrumental in Florida’s win over third-ranked Ole Miss, 38-10. Morrison recorded 16 tackles in the contest with five of those being unassisted.

The Bellwood, Ill. native also contributed 3.5 tackles for a loss and half a sack on Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly.

Morrison was also honored yesterday with the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Next up, the Gators take on the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Mo., on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
