10th Annual Luncheon Raises Funds for Domestic Violence Victims
BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – In support of domestic violence victims, Serene Harbor recently held its annual “Purses with a Purpose” luncheon and fundraiser at the Crown Plaza Oceanfront.
For the sixth consecutive year, the luncheon was a sold-out event with dozens of sponsors and more than 300 attendees. It is held each October in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“We are very pleased to have best-selling author and international trainer Cary Carbonaro as our keynote speaker,” said Serene Harbor Administrator Melody Keith.
Carbonaro is a certified financial planner and the author of “The Money Queens Guide.”
The event included a live auction of new designer purses, along with a silent auction with more than 50 items, vendors and raffles. All money raised went to support the women, children and pets that come to Serene Harbor.
A video of a domestic violence victim who received assistance and support from Serene Harbor brought the audience to tears. On average, Serene Harbor helps about 1,200 individuals each year.
Serene Harbor’s Administrator Melody Keith and Lite Rock 99.3’s Mindy Levy served as auctioneers.
Through shelter, outreach, education and a 24-hour emergency hotline, Serene Harbor empowers victims to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
