Florida Tech Panthers Announce 2016 Football Schedule, Five Home Games This Upcoming Year

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Wednesday, Florida Tech football announced its 11 game slate for the 2016 season. The Panthers will play five home games at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.

FIT initiates the season on Sept. 3 with a familiar foe, travelling to Newberry, South Carolina to take on the Newberry Wolves at 6 p.m. ET. The following week, the Panthers return home to Brevard County to take on Gulf South Conference opponent Mississippi College on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.

The next three weeks will see Florida Tech play in a trio of road games against Shorter on Sept. 17 in Rome, Georgia, Division I opponent Presbyterian on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in Clinton, South Carolina and upstart GSC program West Florida on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in Pensacola, Florida.

The Panthers will then return home to the Space Coast for the next two weeks. Defending GSC Co-Champion North Alabama hits Melbourne on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. before FIT battles Fort Valley State in a non-conference contest at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 in Florida Tech’s Homecoming Game.

On Oct. 22, Florida Tech makes its way to Livingston, Alabama to face GSC rival West Alabama at 7 p.m. The Panthers will get a rematch with Valdosta State, who dashed FIT’s GSC Title hopes last season, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29.

The Panthers will try to make it two in a row against defending national semifinalist West Georgia on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in Carrollton, Georgia before closing out the regular season on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. against Delta State on Senior Day.

FIT is in the midst of its spring practice schedule. Spring practice will run through March 2, with the annual Spring Game taking place on March 3 at 7 p.m. at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.
