Four Brevard County Manatees Receive All-Star Selection, All-Star Game Set For June 18

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Florida State League announced recently the selections to the 2016 All-Star game, which will be held on Saturday, June 18 in Fort Myers. Brevard County received four All-Star selections, as Johnny Davis, Dustin Houle, Angel Ortega and Brandon Woodruff will represent the North.

Davis currently leads the Florida State League in both hits (63) and games played (55). He ranks in the top-five amongst the league’s leaders in batting average (.309), stolen bases (16), runs scored (34), walks (30) and on-base percentage (.405).

Before his promotion to Double-A Biloxi, Brandon Woodruff pitched to a 4-1 record and over 44 1/3 innings struck out 49 batters and held a 1.83 ERA a 0.97 WHIP. Woodruff was promoted to Biloxi on May 15.

Over 39 games played for the Manatees this season, Houle is batting .229 with a home run and 11 RBI. Behind the plate, Houle has thrown out 37 percent (14-of-38) of runners attempting to steal.

After the initial announcement on Friday, Angel Ortega was also added the roster for the North. Ortega has batted .280 in 214 at-bats this season, collecting 60 hits over 54 games with 21 RBI.
