VIERA – KATHLEEN GAME PREVIEW
The Kathleen Red Devils (2-1) travel from Lakeland to take on the Viera Hawks (2-1) Friday night with kickoff slated for 7pm. The Red Devils are led by junior QB Antonio Whitehead.
Whitehead accounted for 220 yards and three TD’s last week in the Red Devils 49-7 win over George Jenkins. Kathleen has won their last two games by a combined score of 84-7, so they will be another strong opponent for Viera.
The Hawks are quickly turning into a balanced team; strong offense and strong defense. The defense was expected to be good, led by Marco Foreman, Brandon Mays, Connor Kaminski, Will Champion, and a host of others! However, it’s the offense that has been doing some impressive things lately.
Forty-two points against a good Merritt Island team last week speaks volumes! Junior QB Tim Demorat, last week’s FNLR Player of the Game, is becoming more comfortable and familiar with the Hawks offense.
Brennon DePlancke continues to get the tough yards, and Quinton Richard and Mike Vega give DeMorat two great targets at wideout. When called upon, Trey Schaneville will more than likely split the uprights with a strong right foot.
MCC – HOLY TRINITY GAME PREVIEW
In one of the biggest games on tap all season, the MCC Hustlers (3-0) host the Holy Trinity Tigers (2-0) in a district contest. The Hustlers and Tigers are in a three team district with John Carroll, so this one is HUGE!
The Tigers will rely on the strong running of Jashaun Corbin. The Tigers were off last week, but the week before, Corbin had an incredible game. All he did was run for 220 yards on 15 carries with two TD’s. And, if that wasn’t enough, he also intercepted a pass, and returned a punt 80 yards for a TD.
The going won’t be easy for the Tigers though. MCC’s potent offense led by junior QB Joquain Collazo, last week’s FNLR Player of the Game, seems to be clicking on all cylinders. Collazo was 7-7, 185 yards, 3TD’s in last week’s win vs Cocoa Beach.
Pavis Gray and Lavonte Valentine get most of the carries, behind an impressive offensive line. Balance has been the key up to this point. Six different players scored TD’s against the Minutemen.
The defense is playing “lights out!” Led by junior co-captain Cam Rivamonte, the Hustlers have not allowed a point the last two weeks. Former FNLR Player of the Game Darnell Victor has also been a standout.
Alan Zlotorzynski and Zach Clark brought you the play-by-play coverage.
