MOUNTED POSSE UNIT CONDUCTS SCENARIO BASED TRAINING
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Over the weekend, the members of our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse Unit participated in scenario based training at the Wickham Park Equestrian Center.
The training included mock responses to various types of calls such as domestic disputes, car burglaries in progress, injured citizens, crowd control, and patrol techniques.
Each scenario was designed to place the members of the unit in various high stress situations to evaluate their potential responses to similar calls that could occur during Parking Lot Patrols at shopping centers and malls throughout the holidays.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse Unit is completely comprised of volunteers who not only volunteer to help protect our community but in doing so provide their own horse and transportation at no cost to the taxpayers.
Last year this unique group of volunteers logged thousands of hours assisting our agency in community relations and patrol efforts.
Starting in November the Mounted Posse Unit will be conducting patrols at the Avenues, Merritt Island Mall, Port Canaveral and other shopping venues throughout Brevard County.
I could not be more proud of this Unit and all they do as volunteers to help protect our community!
