BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Due to the impending weather conditions expected from Hurricane Matthew, Health First is evacuating patients from Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital.
Our most critical patients were relocated last night (October 4) and the remaining patients will be transferred by the end of the day today (Wednesday, October 5), said Health First spokesperson Shona Price in a release.
Price said that patients are being moved to the company’s other Health First hospitals.
“Safety is our number one priority and we prepare for these types of situations,” said Matthew Gerrell, Health First’s Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
“As we continue to monitor Hurricane Matthew, Health First is taking all of the necessary safety precautions. With Cape Canaveral Hospital being located on a barrier island, we felt the evacuation was needed to ensure the safety of our patients.”
Once the storm has passed and damage, if any, has been assessed and cleared for safety, we will begin accepting new patients.
