BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital and Health First’s Viera Hospital received top marks on the latest patients’ Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey in the category of nurse communication.
They were the only Brevard hospitals to make the top 11.
Both hospitals performed better than the national and state averages of 80 percent and 76 percent, respectively.
Viera Hospital ranked third of 11 hospitals with 87 percent of patient surveys responding that nurses always communicated well. Cape Canaveral Hospital ranked sixth with 84 percent.
“Communication with our patients is an integral part of providing the best possible service for those we serve,” said Bill Calhoun, President of Hospital Operations for Health First’s four hospitals.
“We train and strive for quality and excellence in all areas. We are pleased to be recognized in this important category by the very people we care for in our hospitals.”
