BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –Basketball players Kareem Brewton and Mariah Batz had big performances to earn Eastern Florida State College student-athlete of the week honors for the week ending December 5.
Brewton, a sophomore from Claxton, Ga., averaged 24 points per game in the three games at the Monroe Classic in New York, scoring 32 points and grabbing eight rebounds against Harcum College, had 24 points against Baltimore City Community College and 16 points and six rebounds against host Monroe College.
Brewton and the Titans will host TAAG Academy at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
Batz, a freshman from Titusville, averaged over 16 points per game and shot 50 percent from behind the 3-point arc in the two games at the JUCO Shootout at Chipola College.

Against Hillsborough Batz scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Titans to an 89-84 win.
The Titans women’s basketball team will travel to St. Petersburg to face the Titans on Tuesday night before heading back to Marianna for the Chipola Classic this weekend.
