UPDATE: Recovered Deceased Person Identified As Long Nguyen, 31, Foul Play Not Suspected

UPDATED INFORMATION:
The deceased person found in the Indian River north of the Eau Gallie Causeway at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning has been identified as Long Nguyen, 31, who was the subject of an Attempt to Locate broadcast initiated December 8 after Nguyen’s actions and extended absence caused family members concern, according to Melbourne Police Lt. Byron Barnes.
“Foul play is not suspected in Mr. Nguyen’s death, however, the investigation is ongoing,” said Lt. Barnes in a release.
The Melbourne Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is asking that any potential witnesses who may have been in the area of the Eau Gallie Causeway late Thursday afternoon or night to contact Detective Ian Mitchell at 321-608 – 6452.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office reported a deceased person had been located in the Indian River on northeast of the Eau Gallie Causeway.
BCSO informed the Melbourne police at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, and sheriff’s deputies recovered the body and transported it back to shore.
Investigators from the Melbourne police have taken over the case and are currently attempting to determine the victim’s identity.
According to the Melbourne police, all indications at this time indicate that foul play was not involved. Once the identity of the victim is confirmed and any next-of-kin are notified, a follow-up will be issued.
