BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – America’s foremost interpreter of ragtime great Scott Joplin is Boulder, Colorado resident, Scott Kirby.
Kirby, on a seven-week, 12,000 mile tour, will stop at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic to present the work of Joplin and others during the multi-media Main Street Souvenirs on Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m..
The church at 106 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic will host Kirby’s Main Street Souvenirs show, a musical and cinematic celebration of “Classic Americana.”
The audience will explore 150 years of music through Kirby’s live piano performances of some of America’s greats – including Stephen Foster, John Philip Sousa and the ragtime of Scott Joplin.
The music and original narratives will be accompanied on screen by nostalgic archival images and video from America’s past, as well as Kirby’s own photos and watercolor paintings of the Great Plains and prairies.
Baseball games and barbershops, prairie churches, concerts in the park, one room schoolhouses and more are part of Kirby’s “main street.”

As the foremost interpreter of “the Rag King,” Scott Kirby made an appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood in 1998 and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C..
A musician his entire adult life, Kirby has recorded the complete rags of Scott Joplin and composed over 150 original works for piano and other instruments.

With no formal training in art, he nonetheless completed 75 paintings which, along with 28 piano compositions, form the framework for his “souvenirs” show.
