BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eugenie “Genie” Bouchard, once ranked as the No. 5 women’s tennis player in the world, has entered the 12th Annual Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic set this week at the Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour Beach.
The tournament will open on Sunday, and run through next Sunday, April 16.
This is a not-for-profit tournament, with proceeds benefitting the Parker Foundation For Autism and Child Development, the Scott Center for Autism Treatment and Candlelighters of Brevard.
Biuchard, currently No. 56 in the world, will likely play Tuesday, April 11.
“I’m very excited to play at the beautiful Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour Beach, ” Bouchard said. “I know this tournament has been a player favorite over the years, and I look forward to being a part of it.”
Genie’s on court success has led to opportunities away from it. In 2017 she was featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and has recently purchased a Miami penthouse.
Determined to be successful, the Canadian born player moved to Florida at the age of 12 to improve her game. In 2011 Bouchard burst onto the scene by winning the Wimbledon Junior doubles title.

In 2012, she not only defended her crown in doubles, but won the Wimbledon Junior singles title as well.
Two of Bouchard’s former partners, Grace Min in 2011 and Taylor Townsend in 2012, are regulars at Kiwi’s professional event.
In 2014, Bouchard had a breakout year on the Women’s Tennis Association tour, reaching the semifinals in three Gland Slam events and in one of them, arguably the most prestigious event of the year, reached the finals.
She started 2014 by reaching the Australian Open semi-finals, losing to Li Ni of China. In June on the clay courts in the French Open semi-finals, Bouchard fell to Maria Sharapova.
The following month she advanced all the way to the finals of Wimbledon before falling to Petra Kvitova. She didn’t lose a match at Wimbledon in 2014 until the Finals.
Bouchard will be coming to Kiwi by way of Monterrey, Mexico where she was beaten by Sara Sorribes Tormo in the round of 32 last Monday in the Monterrey Open.

“This is not only very exciting for Kiwi, but for every tennis fan in Brevard, ” Boysen said. “To have a player with her name recognition brings a higher level of excitement to our USTA Pro Circuit Event.”
The tournament begins today and continues through April 16.
Admission is free until Friday.
