BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County football may be on the cusp of one its finest seasons ever in 2017 and if you don’t believe me, perhaps the number of invitees to the 19th Annual Central Florida High School All American Game Combine will convince you.

The Space Coast will send 21 players from 10 different Brevard County high schools.

Excel Speed Training hosts the event, which will take place at the Central Florida All Stars Football Combine located on 700 Good Homes road in Orlando.

The Combine is Invitational only and the players were selected by Orlando Sentinel Newspaper Reporter Chris Hayes and others involved in high school football in central Florida.

The combine automatically increases a player’s chances of participating in the All Star game on Dec. 6, 2017 where over 50 scouts will be in attendance.

Excel Speed and Training is run by Lorenzo “Lo” Wood, who graduated from Apopka High School in 1989 and received a full scholarship to North Eastern Oklahoma A&M University.

The combine consists of the 40-yard dash, as well as many other speed and agility drills.

The players will compete one-on-one and in seven-on-seven drills. Position drills are conducted by former NFL & College players.

Wood played football and ran track for North Eastern Oklahoma A&M University where he was an All-Conference Wide Receiver and regional champ in the 110-Meter-High Hurdles.

Due to a leg injury Lo Wood did not advance to professional football in the NFL.

Currently Excel Training has 50 college recruits and several NFL players.

The list of former camp participants currently playing in the NFL is impressive and includes, Green Bay Packers defensive back Ha Ha Clinton Dix, Houston Texans safety KJ Dillon, Oakland Raiders safety Karl Joseph and Dallas Cowboy teammates, linebacker Kyle Wilber and wide receiver Andy Jones.

Of the 22 student-athletes attending the camp, nearly half, or nine will come from the defending Class 4A State Champion Cocoa Tigers.

Melbourne Central Catholic quarterback Joaquin Collazo ws last season’s Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room Offensive Player of the Year, and will participate in the Central Florida All Stars Football Combine.
