BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Mel Martin of Cocoa, a retired Marine Major, former president of the Brevard Indian River Lagoon Coalition and Chapter Leader of Represent the Space Coast, officially announcement her candidacy for Florida Senate District 14 during an event at Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village.

Senate District 14 includes Cocoa, Rockledge, Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral, Port Saint John, Titusville, Mims, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill, DeLand, Lake Helen and Deltona.

Martin’s campaign kick-off event will take place on September 23 in DeLand.

“We are surrounded by problems that aren’t being sufficiently addressed by a majority of our elected officials in Tallahassee,” said Martin.

“They go ignored and will continue to go ignored because those who suffer the consequences of not being heard are, to put it simply, not the ones financing their next campaign.

“My top issues are good government, a healthy environment, and green communities. These issues overlap and include the entirety of issues that pertain to living free, fair, and fulfilled lives, living in peace and stability…living our American dream.”
