Florida Tech Soccer Standouts Evan Enders, Jan Hlavica Score Academic All-American Honors

The postseason accolades continue to roll in for the Florida Tech men’s soccer team as Evan Enders and Jan Hlavica have been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Men’s Soccer Teams, announced on Wednesday afternoon

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The postseason accolades continue to roll in for the Florida Tech men’s soccer team as Evan Enders and Jan Hlavica have been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Men’s Soccer Teams, announced on Wednesday afternoon. 

Both student-athletes received second team honors. FIT is one of six schools in the nation with at least two Academic All-Americans.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

Enders and Hlavica are the second and third Academic All-Americans in men’s soccer program history, and just the third and fourth male student-athletes to earn the honor in school history.

Trey Collins, a First Team Academic All-American in 2015, is the only other FIT men’s soccer player to receive the award. Florida Tech has now produced eight Academic All-Americans in the school’s 60-year history.

A graduate of Holy Trnity in Melbourne, Enders started six matches, and appeared in 12 of the team’s 15 contests this season.Enders recorded seven points on three goals and an assist. The senior scored the game-winning goal in the Panthers’ 2-1 victory over No. 8 Lynn on Oct. 8. He is a two-time recipient of the CoSIDA Academic All-District Award.

Enders started six matches, and appeared in 12 of the team’s 15 matches this season. A local product of Melbourne, Florida, Enders recorded seven points on three goals and an assist. The senior scored the game-winning goal in the Panthers’ 2-1 victory over No. 8 Lynn on Oct. 8.

He is a two-time recipient of the CoSIDA Academic All-District Award.

An electrical engineering major, Enders holds a 3.93 grade point average. He has been named to the FIT Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Sunshine State Conference every year at Florida Tech.

A native of Kelc, Czech Republic, Hlavica started 13 of 14 games this season and was the top scoring defender for FIT with eight points on three goals and two assists.

He was fourth on the team in minutes played at 1,193. The senior was named to the All-SSC Second Team this season after earning honorable mention honors in 2016.

Hlavica has earned Athletic Director’s and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction every year at Florida Tech.

A business administration and management major, Hlavica is one of 13 Academic All-Americans maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the highly prestigious Delta Mu Delta Honor Society.
