BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After making its first collegiate debut at the national level, Florida Tech’s Fever Dance team finished just five points shy of Finals during the 2018 UDA College Nationals held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.

“It was a great experience for the team,” said head coach Alexa Flutie-Sumner.

“We can all describe it as the shortest and longest two minutes of the dance season. I am very proud of the team’s hard work and perseverance, as they walked off the floor with a feeling of true accomplishment”.

Being the only team who qualified in the state of Florida for the D2 Open Pom, third-year program and first-time competitor FIT left an overall impression among the dance floor judges.

The Panthers finished the competition ranked 8.5 out of 10, and cumulatively scored 93.59 points out of 100, which left them only five away from making Final qualifications.

In the Spirit Video, which shows community involvement and school spirit throughout the year, FIT took home a perfect score, as they reached the full allotment of 15 points.

“Seeing this team grow from the original four to the current nine has been incredible,” said dance captain Juliana Burgos.

“Competing at UDA Nationals has been an amazing experience that will set the groundwork for the dance program. I am very excited for what the future holds as the team continues to grow and develop.”

The Fever Dance will now return home and make its appearance during the Women’s and Men’s basketball contests against Rollins on Wednesday, Jan. 24 starting at 5:30 p.m.
