BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol reported a deadly crash involving a semi-truck tanker truck vs. SUV on northbound Interstate 95 at Mile Marker 163 near Micco on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash shut down both lanes for several hours during the busy rush-hour on I-95.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the semi-truck was hauling hydrogen peroxide and a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Robert Raciot, 69, of Quebec, Canada was traveling southbound on I-95.

The semi-truck, driven by a 63-year-old Tampa man, suffered a tire tread separation, which caused the driver to lose control, and struck Raciot’s vehicle.

Both vehicles crashed over the center median guardrail, where the semi-truck overturned and then caught fire.

The driver has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Raciot and his passenger, Celina Ruel, 61, of Quebec, Canada, were taken to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center. Their condition has not been released.

According to FHP, this crash remains under investigation.
