BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Gov. Rick Scott currently leads incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson by five-points in CBS News Poll for the Florida Senate Race in November.

The poll favored Scott by 46% while Nelson followed closely behind with 41% among likely voters.

“Most Florida voters like the job Scott is doing as governor, he has a 61 percent approval rating among registered voters,” said CBS News in a statement. ” In addition to strong support from his own party, most independents approve of the job he’s doing (as do about a third of Democrats).”

Another concern for Sen. Nelson is voter turnout this November, says CBS News.

“The race is bit closer between Nelson and Scott among the broader group of registered voters which includes voters who say they may not vote this November, more of whom are Democrats and independents than Republicans.”

The poll also comes on the heels of Florida being graded to a AAA credit rating last week. The highest rating for the state of Florida ever. The news gives Gov. Rick Scott even more fuel to carry into November.

The poll in Florida interviewed a representative sample of 1,002 registered voters and was fielded between June 19–22, 2018.

Among 1,002 voters surveyed, 40% identified themselves as Democrat, 41% identified as Republican and 16% identified as Independent.
