HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA – The World Surf League North America office is pleased to officially announce Caroline Marks has won the 2018 Women’s North America Qualifying Series Regional Title for the second consecutive year.
Marks, 16, continues to raise the bar for women’s surfing at a young age and was nearly untouchable at every regional event she attended — only contesting at three of the six regional stops.
The Floridian-turned-San Clemente, California, transplant made history in 2017 by being the youngest woman to qualify for the Championship Tour at age 15 and earned her first Regional Title along the way but made a big statement in 2018 with two wins and runner-up at the highest levels of QS competition in the region.
“This year has probably been the best in my life and I’m so stoked to win this title again with good people surrounding me and going with it,” Marks said.
“I’ve just been trying to live in the moment and It’s very exciting and just very fun. It’s pretty funny just because I’m only 16 and I have the confidence that I can win any event, but I don’t think of myself as the one to beat and block that kind of pressure out. It’s all just been working out and I’m loving every minute.”
Marks kicked off 2018 with her first-ever QS victory at the Florida Pro pres. by Sunshine State Lager QS 6,000 over CT sophomore Bronte Macaulay (AUS) on home turf and set the tone for what would be an incredible run.
It was a special for the young surfer with her entire hometown support system in full force on the beach throughout the event and a commanding performance to showcase.
