BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Brevard Children’s Business Fair, a unique, one-day marketplace showcasing the creative goods and services of 50 businesses run by brilliant, young entrepreneurs ages six to 16, held its second annual business event Saturday at The Avenue Viera.

The Brevard Children’s Business Fair is a unique opportunity for Brevard County’s savvy future leaders to develop their talents and compete for prizes. The event was open to the public and free to attend.

Event officials said Central Florida families experienced a vibrant mix of delicious food, inventive crafts, cool artwork, hilarious comic books, and so much more.

“We’re ecstatic about the outcome of this year’s event and couldn’t be prouder of these promising young future business leaders who gave us their all in terms of authenticity, talent and professionalism,” said Nora McFarland, executive director of Brevard Children’s Business Fair.

“We’re so grateful for our sponsors and The Avenue Viera who helped make this event possible. It’s this kind of community synergy and teamwork that allows us to provide such a unique platform that nurtures talent while establishing a foundation for real-world business skills.”

All 50 vendors were automatically entered into a competition where their business concept, products/services, and booth were reviewed by a panel of judges.

The Concept

Last fall, Brevard County residents submitted an online application to be considered for the event. Fifty selected applicants were notified in October 2018 and kid vendors had five months to develop their product/service, create a brand, build a marketing strategy, and then open for business at this one-of-a-kind, one-day marketplace.

The youngsters were responsible for the setup, sales, and interaction with customers. During the event, parents were not allowed to sell to customers or promote their child’s product. At BCBF kids are the boss!

2019 BCBF sponsors include: Florida Virtual School, The Avenue Viera, Fun 4 Space Coast Kids, Acton Children’s Business Fair, Destination Brevard, Blackout Dayz, YourLogo.com, My Remedy, Simple Media Productions, Constance Taddie Photography, Viera Voice, Realtor and Property Manager Jennifer Marin and St. Mark’s Episcopal Academy.

The nonprofit organization consists of a team of passionate local business owners, mentors and parents seeking to give Brevard children the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship in a practical and fun way.

The Brevard Children’s Business Fair committee, led by Executive Director Nora McFarland, includes Madison Conradis, Ivy Iverson, Erin Schuck, Chris Conneen, Oliver Demasis and Darcy Manning.
