BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The field for the 117th annual IRA Championship Regatta has been announced and Florida Tech will be sending both its first and second varsity eights to this year’s championship regatta on May 31-June 2 at Lake Natoma.

The Crimson & Gray are seeded 19th in the V8 division and 22nd in the 2V8. Florida Tech’s varsity eight crew took fourth in the third level final at the 2018 IRA Championships to help the Panthers finish 16th overall as a team.

This marks the fourth time in the last 10 years that Lake Natoma, located just outside of Sacramento in Gold River, California, served as the host for the IRA Championships. The site also hosted the regatta in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

Florida Tech is coming off a fifth straight SIRA Varsity Eight Championship last month at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It is the ninth title in the last 11 years for the Panthers’ crew. The 2V8 placed third in its final at SIRA and is heading in with a lot of momentum after a great weekend in Oak Ridge.
