ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The Greater Orlando Sports Commission hosted its second annual “Celebrating Women in Sports” this week at the Ballroom at Church Street in Orlando.
The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson were on hand during the celebration, and Wilson said that it was one of the most impressive events he has covered.
“Hats off to the Greater Orlando Sports Commission and all of those involved with this event,” said Wilson.
More than 400 people attend the event, including WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, who was the keynote speaker.
Honorees from the Orlando area were Donna Dowless, Marci Doyle and Shelly Wilkes.
McMahon has worked for WWE in some capacity since she was a child and is the daughter of WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, and is married to Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Dowless spent many years working in the sports and entertainment industry and is the former executive vice-president of Ticketmaster.
She switched her focus from sports and entertainment to arts and culture in recent years and is known as Orlando’s “Ambassador of Love.”
Doyle is the Chief Operating Officer and Tournament Director for the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard.
Serving with the Arnold Palmer companies for 11 years, she was named in 2014 as the Tournament Director and became only the second female to hold this position among the PGA Tour’s 42 tournaments.
Wilkes received the “Rising Star Award” at the luncheon. She serves as president of the Lakeland Magic and was also the first female to serve in this capacity. Lakeland is a member of the “G” League and an affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
