SPACE COAST DAILY TV HURRICANE UPDATE: Space Daily’s Chris Bonanno discusses the latest advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center on Hurricane Dorian as of 5 p.m. Friday. The projected path on Friday at 5 p.m. shifted north again, with the storm now predicted to make landfall north of Port St. Lucie, take a hard turn north, and move up the coast into Central Florida.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service announced Friday night that Hurricane Dorian has strengthened to a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds near 130 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service alert said that the storm’s change in intensity was detected by hurricane hunter aircraft.
As of 8:30 p.m. ET, the storm was located about 400 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas and 575 miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida and was moving west-northwest at 10 miles per hour.

Data from the NOAA Hurricane Hunters indicate that Dorian has
strengthened to an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane with
maximum sustained winds near 130 mph (215 km/h). This increase in
intensity will be reflected in the forecast issued at 1100 pm EDT
(0300 UTC).
