Viera Suntree Little League Juniors Nuke the East 15-2 in Five Innings to Win Their Opening World Series Game

TAYLOR, MICHIGAN – The East watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-2 loss to the Southeast team, represented by the Viera Suntree Little league Juniors, on Sunday during the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Michigan. 

Viera Suntree Little League scored on a single by Lucas Glendinning and a double by Logan Keith in the first inning.

The East struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Southeast, giving up 15 runs.

Southeast got things started in the first inning when Glendinning singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Southeast scored ten runs in the second inning. Southeast‘s big inning was driven by singles by GlendinningLuc ItenKeith, and Blake Strode, an error on a ball put in play by Cameron Ruston and Cole Smith, a walk by Cameron Simpkins, and a double by Apollos Horrell.

Horrell took the win for Southeast.

He lasted one and one-third innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking one. SmithDylan Jordan, and Glendinning all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Ryan McLaughlin took the loss for East. He allowed three hits and three runs over two-thirds of an inning, walking one.

McLaughlin and Roman Keith all had one hit to lead East.

Southeast racked up 11 hits on the day. HorrellKeith, and Glendinning each managed multiple hits for Southeast.

The Viera Little League Juniors, representing the Southeast Region, will take on the Central Region at 2 p.m. Monday
