BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team lost a tight Mid-Florida Conference match with Daytona State College Thursday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

Daytona State College picked up the win in straight sets, 25-21, 25-16, 26-24.

The Titans trailed the entire first set, but cut the lead to one at 15-14 behind the strong serving of Sarah Langenbach and then after falling behind again came back to cut the lead to 22-20 when Laura Azevedo had an ace. But that was as close as they would get.

Daytona State jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the second set but once again Langenbach served five straight points including an ace to tie the match 8-8. It was tied 10-10 before Daytona State went on a 7-0 run and went on to the 25-16 win.

The third set was all Titans early as Keydelis Nieves served up a 4-0 lead and Eastern Florida State College led by four, 17-13.

Once again Daytona State went on a run, tying the match 17-17 before a Maredis Colon kill. Nieves came up big down the stretch with some kills, including one that tied the match at 22-22 and again at 24-24 but Daytona State College won the next two points to take the third set 26-24.

The Titans (7-7, 0-2 in the conference) will travel to Ocala to play the College of Central Florida on Tuesday and will be back at Titan Field House next Friday night, hosting Lake Sumter State College at 6 p.m.
