VR remains one of the biggest developing technologies in gaming
VR remains one of the biggest developing technologies in gaming, providing a completely immersive experience, as well as high definition that many gamers are still getting used to.
VR has increased massively with regards to functionality and saturation, and organizations such as Boeing, and even NASA, are on board with the technology. Headsets, too, such as the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift have only deepened the interest in the potential of virtual reality.
VR apps are evolving at an impressive rate. We’re seen it numerous industries, not least in pure entertainment where it’s impacting upon games on numerous platforms, including online games at the likes of https://www.kongregate.com and https://www.videoslots.com
VR apps are also making waves in healthcare and education. Gaming has a direct relation to technological advancements and society’s behaviors.
When entertainment, healthcare, and education come together, we’re armed with a greater ability to analyze and then transform how we interact and behave. Our minds become broader and are constantly challenged by new techniques, which allows developers to build games with an improved understanding of a fuller gaming experience.
VR is opening up new horizons, both for individual games and the gaming industry as a whole. It’s building on phenomena that already exists and moving forward at a fast pace, creating some stunning advancements in technology along the way. VR gaming has been in existence since the 1990s.
However, its future at that time was uncertain and ambiguous. That certainly is no longer the case.
Developers are able to feel like kids again. What the development community in gaming is achieving is monumental. VR offers a more interesting and exciting perspective into gaming, and there are huge opportunities that lie ahead. Every day, new techniques are being learned about and worked on.
This kind of paradigm shift only comes about around once per decade. VR games offer an immersive experience like nothing else on the planet.
It was never designed to touch human feelings and emotions, but it’s having a huge bearing on how we perceive things. In fact, there’s a significant change in what we first believed VR would be.
Oculus VR released their Oculus Rift VR goggles on Kickstarter in 2012, and it began to work with VR unperceived by its creators. The Rift resembles a matte-black box, approximately the same size of a brick, and it hangs from the user’s face like huge ski goggles.
It looks something like a device from the future, out of a science-fiction film, even, rather than a gadget developed by an experimental teenager who made it in his garage.
It was an unusual way for such a successful gadget to be brought into the marketplace, but that’s its story: a sci-fi fan by the name of Palmer Luckey constructed the very first prototype at just 17 years of age in his parent’s garage.
Melbourne-based Opaque Space has been developing simulations and training technologies with the assistance of various public and private sector industries like Boeing and NASA.
The Emre Deniz-run firm recently developed an award-winning game for the HTC Vive by the name of Earthlight Spacewalk VR. While NASA is busy working on trying to send more humans to the moon, the idea behind the game was to allow players the opportunity to experience what it’s like on the International Space Station.
Along with the Oculus Rift, we’re now able to choose from a number of other gadgets, such as the PlayStation VR, Google Cardboard, and HTC Vive.
VR developers are also looking to make ways in the horror genre, attempting to work with famous filmmakers to create new horror games, which would allow gamers to immerse themselves in not only the game’s story but also the setting of the scene, where they’re able to experience far more.
The idea sounds like a scary one, but an exciting one at the same time. With advancements continually being made, it’s only a matter of time before game and movie producers being working together to offer more and more intense and unique experiences.
