Titans defeat Florida Tech 5.5-2.5 to keep the cup

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team won the Collegiate Players Cup Friday for the second straight season at Suntree Country Club.

The Titans defeated Florida Tech 5.5-2.5 to keep the cup.

Eastern Florida State College got off to a good start in the morning four-ball event, picking up three of the four points.

Tom Matthews and Ben Ramos teamed up to win 2 and 1, Josh Yang and Drew Lanier won 1-up and Pontis Torgner and Kacey Walker picked up the win 7 and 5.

In the afternoon the teams played foursomes and Yang and Lanier picked up another win one up and Ryan McMillan and Sean McGinty picked up the win 4 and 3.

Matthews and Ramos halved their match as the Titans picked up 2 ½ points in the afternoon session.

The Titans will finish the fall season at the Central Alabama Fall Intercollegiate event in Mississippi Monday and Tuesday.
