BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, FLORIDA – With the launch of the Atlas V being two days away, meet Ray Saavedra, launch operations manager with the 45th Security Forces Squadron, and see how he contributes to the World’s premier gateway to space.
“As the Launch Operations Manager, I direct all security measures in support of all launches out of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station,” said Saavedra.
“On the day of the launch, I oversee all activities for security personnel working the launch and ensure that the Blast Danger Area and Flight Caution Areas are clear of unauthorized personnel.”
“Some of the wing’s launch missions are in support of our warfighters, so it is important to provide a safe and secure environment to our launch providers.”
“From recovering boosters, launching communication satellites that are saving lives and finalizing spacecraft that will take astronauts to space from the Cape — there is no place I’d rather be than here,” said Saavedra.
