VIERA, FLORIDA – It was a beautiful day at the course for the opening round of the 2020 Panther Invitational at Duran Golf Club as 13 teams began to stake their claim for this year’s championship.

No. 12 Florida Tech has two teams and three individuals competing in this year’s tournament. The “A” Team is currently fourth in the standing after round one with a score of 298 (+10) while the “B” Team is eighth after carding a 306 (+18) at Duran’s par-72, 7,051-yard course.

Barry, the No. 1 team in the Division II GCAA Ranking, is the leader after 18 holes scoring a 286 (-2). Tied for second place at +3 are Keiser, the No. 2 NAIA team according to Golfstat, and Eastern Florida State, who is ranked 12th in the NJCAA.

Max O’Hagan leads the Panther’s “A” Team in a tie for 7th at even-par. Evan Thompson is tied for ninth at +1. Josh Perna scored a +3 and is tied for 26th while Sam Avey shot a +6 and is tied for 42nd. Kyle Decenzo is tied for 49th at +7.

Matthew Senft-Greenberg paces the “B” Team in a tie for ninth at +1. Jacob Saarela scored a +4 and is tied for 35th, and Kyle Somers is tied for 42nd at +6. Ryan Hull and Zack Sherman are tied for 49th at +7.

Competing as individuals in the tournament are Matthew Brown, who is tied for 26th

at +3, and Jacob Brantefelt, tied for 63rd at +12.

The second round of the Panther Invitational will tee off at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning. All teams will begin the round off hole 10.
