By Space Coast Daily // April 6, 2020
SCAT will ONLY transport passengers that are providing or receiving essential services
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Fixed Route bus service will be reduced until further notice. Effective Monday, April 6, Space Coast Area Transit fixed routes will be operating Monday – Friday on “Saturday Schedules,” with service extended by two hours until 8:15 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday service will operate on regular Saturday and Sunday schedules.
The Transit Agency will ONLY transport passengers that are providing or receiving essential services in accordance with the Safer at Home order issued by Governor DeSantis.
Vehicle operators will be protected to the greatest extent that is possible through rear door entry for passengers; only wheelchair and handicapped passengers are eligible for front door entry.
Seating closest to the operator has been limited. Additionally, specific seats for occupancy have been designed by taping off distances of at least six feet between passengers.
Please help keep bus drivers and passengers safe. Don’t ride if you are sick or have flu-like symptoms. Space Coast Area Transit North and South Bus Terminals have been closed to the general public until further notice.
“We feel like we are all in this together,” stated Transit Director Scott Nelson.
“We want to do whatever we can to limit the spread of the disease and transport passengers to their essential destinations.”
