BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First has remained diligent in its efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 for patients, visitors, associates and community.
For months, Health First has battled this virus together with the community, and as a part of Health First’s commitment to keeping you informed, Brevard’s largest healthcare provider has shared new protocols recently implemented to ensure safety for everyone.
“All elective surgery patients will be tested for COVID-19 within one week prior to surgery and will need a verified negative result prior to surgery,” said Michael Seeley, President of Health First Foundation.
“We are working through this process and will provide additional information in the coming weeks regarding a start date.”

Seeley said that Health First expanded its free COVID-19 testing to the public.
Health First Medical Group-Gateway is now offering this testing Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Testing is also offered at the Merritt Island HealthPlex Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
To schedule an appointment for drive-up testing, customers should call the Centralized Scheduling Office at 321-434-3131. A physician’s lab order is required for testing at Gateway.
“We continue to take the appropriate precautions across Health First to reduce the risk for associates, patients and visitors,” said Seeley.
“This includes social distancing practices, plastic partitions in check-in areas, hand-sanitizing stations throughout our facilities, a universal masking policy, and strict disinfection and sanitation procedures. We would like to remind everyone to be diligent in protecting themselves and others during this time of uncertainty.
“As we closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, we will continue communicating important updates as needed. Together, we will get through this.”
