“I could not be more proud of my boys and girls,” said Butler after the meet on Sunday.

“The girls’ third place is the highest finish since 2008 and Julia was the first top 15 Scorp lady on the podium since 2008.”

Butler is the most decorated coach in Brevard high school sports history, as he’s been at the helm of a now incredible 18 state champion cross country teams and 6 track & field title squads.

“The boys did a tremendous job in the hot humid conditions,” said Butler.

“I was disappointed in the FHSAA putting the biggest race of their lives at 11 a.m. But they stepped up to the challenge and their score of 25 is the lowest score ever for me in 21 trips to state.”
