Ceremony to Rename Pennsylvania Avenue in Rockledge to Clarence Rowe Avenue Set March 20

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The City of Rockledge will host a street renaming ceremony on Saturday, March 20 to honor longtime Rockledge resident Clarence Rowe.

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to officially unveil the renaming of Pennsylvania Avenue to Clarence Rowe Avenue in Carboni Park.

On December 2, 2020, the Rockledge City Council unanimously adopted a resolution renaming the portion of Pennsylvania Avenue in Carboni Park as Clarence Rowe Avenue in honor of  Rowe, “a pioneer for justice and equality for all residents of Rockledge and Brevard County.”

Rowe served as president of the Central Brevard Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and received a Key to the City of Rockledge in 2003.

The public is invited to attend  and COVID-19 protocols will be in place.
