BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Department shared details about the important role of the MPD Dive Recovery Team.

Brevard County has 75 miles of the Atlantic Ocean bordering its east coast, the St. John’s River providing the west border, the Indian River and Banana Rivers both running nearly the entire length of the county.

The Melbourne Police Department Dive Rescue Unit team is responsible for underwater investigations, evidence collection, victim rescue and recovery, conveyance recovery and other waterborne police operations as required.

The team also provides water-related education to the public upon request.
