29-Year-Old Melbourne Woman Killed, One Injured After Vehicle Crashes Near Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal crash early Sunday morning that has claimed the life of 29-year-old Melbourne woman and critically injured a 32-year-old Melbourne woman.

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal crash early Sunday morning that has claimed the life of 29-year-old Melbourne woman and critically injured a 32-year-old Melbourne woman.

Authorities were called to the scene around 2:19 a.m. near Samuel C. Phillips Parkway and Poseidon Avenue where they discovered the passenger of the vehicle dead at the scene. The passenger is identified as a 29-year-old woman from Melbourne. She was wearing her seatbelt, authorities say.

The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old woman from Melbourne, was airlifted from the crash scene to Holmes Regional in critical condition.

The investigation shows the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound Samuel C. Phillips Parkway when it struck a concrete barrier head-on at the entrance of Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
