Palm Bay Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide After Fatal Crash in April Kills Two People

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police announced that they have charged and arrested 38 year-old Kester Loy Patterson, of Palm Bay, for his actions resulting in a fatal traffic crash on April 17, 2021.

Maria Ramirez and her sister, Noemi Hammen, were both killed as a result of the crash.

Patterson was arrested on Thursday, December 23 for two counts of Vehicle Homicide, two counts of DUI Manslaughter, DUI causing property damage to another and DUI.

Investigators determined that Patterson was operating his black Mercedes when his car crash into a white Nissan, which was occupied by Ramirez and Hammen.

The impact caused Ramirez to suffer fatal injuries immediately and Hammen later succumbed to her injures at a nearby hospital.

The investigation revealed impairment and reckless driving were contributing factors to the crash.

A blood test revealed Patterson was under the influence of Cannabis. A speed analysis determined that Patterson was traveling in excess of 90 mph.

Patterson is being booked at the Brevard County Jail on a no bond status.
