WATCH: ABC’s Good Morning America was at South Lake Elementary this week in Titusville spotlighting the school’s STEAM program and its focus on the space industry. Rhonda Ripperger, a STEM lab teacher at South Lake Elementary in Titusville, gets students excited about learning with projects and lessons about Space. At the end of their visit, Ripperger was surprised live on TV with $10,000 from Donor’s Choose! The funds will go toward South Lake’s Smart Lab.
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – ABC’s Good Morning America was at South Lake Elementary this week in Titusville spotlighting the school’s STEAM program and its focus on the space industry.
South Lake Elementary School is located on Garden Street, includes grades kindergarten through sixth grade, and is led by Principal Jennifer Brockwell.
South Lake Elementary focuses on a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) integrated curriculum.
The 6-minute segment on GMA featured Rhonda Ripperger, a STEM lab teacher at South Lake Elementary in Titusville, and her students who are excited about learning with projects and lessons about Space.
“This is a really, really, really, really, really big deal,” said Russell Bruhn, Brevard Public Schools Chief Strategic Communications Officer.
“The teacher GMA interviewed, Rhonda Ripperger, did a fantastic job. And the kids were amazing. Millions of people across the country saw this and know now about BPS.”
At the end of their visit, Ripperger was surprised live on TV with $10,000 from Donor’s Choose! The funds will go toward South Lake’s Smart Lab.
Students at South Lake Elementary are enriched in a Makerspace Lab and SmartLab. Both of these opportunities provide students with hands-on learning experiences.
