BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Symphony Orchestra will perform the sixth and final signature concert in its 2021-2022 season, Roman Holiday, on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 pm at the Maxwell C. King Center in Melbourne.
As an exciting addition to an already electric concert, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra will welcome the Eau Gallie High School Chamber Orchestra to perform their award-winning rendition of Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 10 at the 2022 American String Teachers National Orchestra Festival, the biggest competition for High School Orchestra in the United States.
The American String Teachers National Orchestra Festival began in 2004 and this year, Eau Gallie High School became the first-ever champion from Florida.
The students, under the direction of Erik Bryan, memorized the entire performance and began working on the project in October 2021, with rehearsals through winter and spring break to prepare for the competition.

“I’m thrilled to be wrapping up our 2021-22 season in such spectacular fashion!” said Brevard Symphony Orchestra Music Director Christopher Confessore.
“Our 80-piece orchestra will bring the picturesque music of Respighi’s Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome, and Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture to life – and superstar pianist Joyce Yang will present a thrilling performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. This will be the largest orchestra we’ve had on stage since 2019.
“You definitely won’t want to miss this incredible performance!”
