FHP: 36-Year-Old Melbourne Man Killed in Pedestrian vs. Vehicle Crash On U.S. Hwy. 1 in Sharpes

FHP: Man pronounced dead on the scene

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were on the scene of a fatal pedestrian incident at U.S. Hwy. 1 and Pam Lem Street in Sharpes early Saturday morning at 12:30 a.m. According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, a 65-year-old woman of Cocoa was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle in the right southbound through lane of U.S. Hwy 1 when a 36-year-old man of Melbourne “walked into the direct path” of the SUV.

BREVARD COUNTY • SHARPES, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were on the scene of a fatal pedestrian incident at U.S. Hwy. 1 and Pam Lem Street in Sharpes early Saturday morning at 12:30 a.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, a 65-year-old woman of Cocoa was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle in the right southbound through lane of U.S. Hwy 1 when a 36-year-old Melbourne man “walked into the direct path” of the SUV.

Lt. Kim Montes said the front, right of the SUV struck the man, who upon impact, was thrown into a traffic sign and post.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene and this crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
