Health First Aging Services improves wellness and health of aging adults in Brevard County
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After a one-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health First Golf Classic returned to the Space Coast this year under blue skies and Chamber of Commerce-perfect weather … and smashed all fundraising goal expectations and records.
The four-person scramble tournament is annually held on both Suntree Country Club courses – the “Classic” and the “Challenge” – with event sponsors comprising the participant field, which included a total of 194 golfers.
The Golf Classic benefits Health First Aging Services, and while Health First Foundation organizers had set a target fundraising goal of $230,000, the event far-exceeded expectations with a final one-day tally of $305,000.
Community support through the Health First Foundation helps sustain the mission and work of Aging Services, which last year served over 3,000 individuals, and ensures that no one is turned away or goes untreated.
In addition to individual and corporate gifts, proceeds from the Health First Golf Classic help fund these vital services to our community so they are readily available.
“Our mission at Health First Aging Services is to improve the wellness and health of aging adults in Brevard County,” said Dr. Visa Srinivasan, Medical Director for Health First Aging Services.
“We are dedicated to providing high-quality patient and family-centered care through programs like the Center for Family Caregivers, Memory Disorders Clinic and our Aging Wellness Program. These are vital services for our aging population and for family caregivers of older adults.
“Because of the generous gifts from Health First Foundation donors, we can provide the programs and services at the Center for Family Caregivers free of charge and support of the Golf Classic makes sure that we can continue to do so. Thank you to our sponsors and participants for supporting Health First Aging Services and providing healing and hope to our community.”
“Health First Aging Services is doing great work in our community to help improve the wellness and health of older adults living in Brevard County by increasing the availability of high-quality geriatric care services,” said Steve Johnson, Health First CEO.
“The senior care and geriatric services provided by Health First Aging Services and the Center for Family Caregivers have been helping seniors and their families for over a decade. Throughout the pandemic, our Aging Services team has creatively and effectively stayed connected with their patients and families.”
“It is an honor to support Health First’s Aging Services and the Health First Foundation,” said Kevin Steele, owner of Bob Steele Chevrolet and Golf Classic co-chair.
“I have truly enjoyed serving as co-chair of this event with Scott Mikuen and collaborating with such a great committee who worked to sell out this year’s tournament.
