BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced the arrest of a 36-year-old woman on Wednesday for three-counts of animal cruelty after leaving two dogs and a cat inside a hot vehicle, with the windows barely cracked, while she was allegedly at the beach for over two hours, according to investigators.

The woman is identified as Jessica Greer from Satellite Beach.

Sheriff Ivey says Greer told deputies she knew she left the animals in the hot vehicle.

“One of the dogs is 16-year-old and was near death as a result of being left inside the vehicle when our deputies arrived,” said Sheriff Ivey.

“Folks, this woman (Greer) should not be allowed to own a pet rock, much less two dogs and a cat.”

Sheriff Ivey shows a picture of one of the 16-year-old dog who was left inside a hot vehicle for over two hours, while the suspect went to the beach. “One of the dogs is 16-year-old and was near death as a result of being left inside the vehicle when our deputies arrived,” said Sheriff Ivey. “Folks, this woman (Greer) should not be allowed to own a pet rock, much less two dogs and a cat.”

Deputies were able to save the animals after breaking one of the windows and rescuing all of the animals inside.

The animals are currently at the Brevard County Animal Center to get proper treatment. All of them are expected to make a full recovery.

Greer was booked into the Brevard County Jail.

Her bond has been set at $15,000.

Greer’s first court appearance is set for 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 5.

Sheriff Ivey has been adamant supporter of animals in Brevard County and has released similar videos regarding animal abuse/ animal cruelty cases in the past.
