Palm Bay Firefighters Rescue Two People Trapped Inside Residential Blaze

Two people inside home were treated for minor smoke, heat-related injuries

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire Rescue B-Shift unit extinguished a residential fire in the SE section of Palm Bay on Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, dispatchers received calls regarding “black smoke” just before 3 p.m.

As units from stations 2, 4, 5, and 6 responded to the incident, reports stated the home was occupied but not everyone was accounted for.

Upon arrival, Palm Bay Fire Rescue crews were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions.

A walk around the outside of the home presented crews with several hazards including a heavy fire load, home add-ons, stored flammable containers, and boards covering several windows of the house.

Teams worked together quickly to remove the wood from those windows allowing two people who were trapped inside, to escape the structure.

All occupants of the home were treated for minor smoke and heat-related injuries and were released on scene.

No injuries to fire personnel were reported.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced homeowners.
