WATCH: Cape Canaveral Mayor Wes Morrison explains the current proposal and recommendation from FDOT for the Modern Roundabout instead of a 4-way, signaled intersection at International Drive and A1A in Cape Canaveral.
BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Many citizens have asked Mayor Wes Morrison, “What is going on with the roundabout? And, what can we do if we oppose it?” He would like to take time to educate the public on the current status of the A1A Tomorrow project in Cape Canaveral and talk about what actions can be taken at this point.
Morrison said he strongly urges residents, business owners, and frequent commuters in the City of Cape Canaveral and the City of Cocoa Beach to ensure they follow this project closely.
“FDOT has expressed their willingness to work with the community to create a solution to the unsafe conditions of A1A,” said Morrison.
“The current proposal and recommendation from FDOT includes the Modern Roundabout instead of a 4-way, signaled intersection at International Drive and A1A. If you support or oppose this project as is with the roundabout, it is imperative that you learn more and continue to voice your concerns and opinions. The citizens and City Council have actions they can take now as the project continues to move forward.”
At the top of the Mayor’s mind is the need for the Cape Canaveral Council Members to draft and adopt a revised Resolution about the safety of A1A that includes support or opposition to the roundabout concerning the fact that this is FDOT’s road.
