Andrew Tate recently blew up on many social media platforms due to his controversial takes on some hot button topics.

He won millions of followers who liked what he said about those things and most of them took his advice. But at the same time, he also had many detractors who saw what he said as harmful.

Here, we will take a look at who Andrew Tate is and why he has been written or talked about so extensively.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Andrew Tate (formally Emory Andrew Tate III) is an American-British internet personality, multi-millionaire, podcaster, and former professional kickboxer.

After his kickboxing career, he started offering paid courses and memberships to his website and then rose to fame as an influencer.

Tate got into the the social scene with an appearance on the British show “Big Brother” in 2016 but he didn’t last long. Why was Andrew Tate kicked out? Because a video of him hitting a woman with a belt was found and published by the press.

There were also some tweets that were made public around that time that were deemed offensive. Tate’s commentary on social media has recently seen him get bans from several platforms.

He often claimed that women who were raped are “partially responsible for the attacks.” He also described how he might attack women and criticized people who seek mental health treatment.

Early Life

Andrew “Cobra” Tate was born on December 14, 1986, in Washington, D.C., but was raised in Luton, England. His father, Emory Tate, is an African-American. He was a chess Master.

His mother, on the other hand, worked as a catering assistant. Therefore, Tate is multiracial. Tate learned to play chess at the age of five and competed in adult tournaments as a child. He also took up kickboxing.

Kickboxing Career

In 2005, Tate began practicing boxing and martial arts and by 2008, he was ranked 7th best light-heavyweight kickboxer in Britain by the International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA).

He won the British ISKA Full Contact Cruiserweight championship in 2009 and was ranked number one in his division in the whole of Europe. At that point, he had won 17 of his 19 fights but that was his first belt and title. Two years later, Andrew Tate won his first ISKA world title. He beat Jean-Luc Benoit via knockout in a rematch, having previously lost to him by decision.

Tate lost the Enfusion championship tournament to Franci Grajš in 2012. However, before that tournament, he had won 18 fights by knockout and had become the second best light-heavyweight kickboxer in the world.

Tate claimed his second ISKA world title a year later by beating Vincent Petitjean in a 12-round match. He became world champion in two different weight categories. He then ritired from the sport to pursue his business ventures.

Big Brother

Andrew Tate was a contestant on Big Brother house in 2016. During his time there, he came under scrutiny for his homophobic and racist comments on Twitter.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was the release of a video in which Tate appeared to beat a woman with a belt.

Tate was removed from the show after only six days. To respond to his removal, both Tate and the woman he allegedly assaulted claimed they were just friends and what they did in the video was consensual sex.

Online Businesses

Tate has been engaged in several online ventures over the years. His website states that he offers training courses on making money. He also offers dating advice to men.

He also operates a webcam studio using girlfriends as employees. Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, allegedly started the webcam business to sell “fake sob stories” to male callers. They claim to have made millions of dollars with Tate claiming that the business model is a “total scam”.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan also have a podcast called “Tate Speech” which is described as follows: “The Tate Speech podcast gives you a perspective on life from the man who is eternally correct.” Tate and his brother mostly target young men.

Hustler’s University

Tate runs Hustler’s University (full review at NoBSIMReviews.com), a platform where people pay a monthly membership fee to receive instructions on an array of topics.

The Hustlers University is described as community where Tate and dozens of experts will teach you how to make money by learning how to engage in E-commerce, Copywriting, Freelancing, Stock Analysis, Options Plays, Crypto Analysis, DeFi, and NFTs.

Andrew claims that he vets every “professor” personally and ensures that each of them earns anywhere from 10k to 500k a month in their field. The platform had an affiliate marketing program where members earned a commission for recruiting others but this was terminated when Andrew Tate was banned from social media because Stripe pulled out of processing subscriptions for the platform.

Tate encouraged members of Hustler’s University to post videos of him to social media platforms to maximize engagement. The website has allegedly had thousands of subscribers who are said to continue flooding social media with his content.

Tate Banned From Social Media

Andrew Tate’s comments landed him in trouble as he was recently banned from social media sites Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok, and Twitter citing violations of their policies. Consequently, Andrew Tate’s influence has waned as he is no longer an active social media influencer.

Tate was massive on TikTok, where videos featuring his name as a hashtag have been viewed 13 billion times. The company removed his account and shortly after, YouTube also suspended his channel citing multiple violations. Tate also deleted his channel on Twitch.

Tate responded to the bans, saying that, while most of his comments were taken out of context, he takes responsibility for how they were received. Jake Paul denounced Tate’s comments, but criticized the bans as censorship. However, Tate videos continue to circulate on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok after the bans via fan accounts.

Controversies

Andrew Tate’s house was raided by the Romanian police after the U.S. embassy alerted them that an American woman might be held against her will.

The investigation was conducted by Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism. They looked into human trafficking and rape allegations. The Romanian police released a statement saying that no person had been charged or arrested in the case and the case is ongoing. Tate denied all allegations.
